Brexit Day.

Well folks, here it is: Brexit day is upon us. As of 11pm tonight, we will no longer be part of the political union of Europe.

So for the next 12 months we should be in regulatory alignment, but politically we will be free.

For this 12 month period, we need to negotiate the sort of Canada++ deal that David Davies was originally working towards before Theresa May and Ollie Robbins threw a spanner in the works at chequers.

Back then I said that if Europe requires regulatory alignment in order for us to trade with them, then there should be an independent standards regulatory body that businesses who wish to trade with Europe sign up to and voluntarily submit to inspections in order to police the standards required to trade with Europe.

So only companies that trade with Europe have to adhere to EU standards for goods and services entering the EU from the UK. It also means that goods and services destined for the EU are guaranteed to comply before they cross the borders, so therefore shouldn't require extensive border checks and if a secure method can be found to transport the goods, no checks should be necessary.

That way businesses that don't need to trade with Europe, don't get saddled with unnecessary beaurocracy.

The regulatory body can either be financed by the companies themselves (as a condition of trading with Europe), or by the UK and EU governments in exchange for tariff-free trade in both directions.

The important thing is the rest of the UK gets on with doing business within our borders and with the rest of the world without EU intervention.

UK fishing grounds need to be for UK fishermen only. If there is no other option, then limited access with small quotas to be granted by licence to a small number of fishermen. Certainly no industrial fish hoovers, no electric stun ships and no Spanish trawlers.

Anyway, as we begin to part ways tonight, I will raise a glass of Russian Vodka. And Coke.

The "Empty-Chairing" of Boris by Luxembourg.

The fiasco of Boris refusing to speak outside on a podium yards away from a baying mob of remainiac protesters and the Luxembourg PM refusing to hold the press conference indoors in an effort to embarrass Boris shows why we should be leaving the EU.

The problem with Xavier Bettel is he is no statesman. A true stateman and leader of a country would have honour and comply with his guest's request to hold the press conference in an alternative location.

Instead Bettel deliberately sought to humiliate Boris. By either making him hold the conference outside against the baying mob, or by empty-chairing him and effectively taking the piss while Boris wasn't there.

But that's the trouble with the EU: while the EU make all the rules and laws of government and a certain political class reign, political pygmies like Bettel can rise to the top.

Macron is of the same mould, in fact the only European premiers who are not of the same Euro-elite class are Germany's Merkel and Hungary's Orban.

The Euro-elite are easily identifiable: self assured, totally committed to the European Project to cult-level brainwash. They cannot fathom why anyone would not want to be under the EU commission's unelected beaurocrats. It's great for the leaders of these smaller countries, The EU bungs money to the country and makes all the rules, so there is very little for the leader of Luxembourg for instance to do other than accept the rules of the EU, keep taking the cash and look like a leader. If the boy does good, he may make it to the gravy-train of the EU commission and be rolling in it for life, just like old Rumpy-Pumpy. Bettel is a puppet leader, much like the puppet leaders of countries tied to bigger regimes.

The Euro-elite are so cultish they view anyone who considers leaving the EU idiots, unable to see "the bigger picture".  Hence the picture of Bettel gesturing to the empty podium by his side while shrugging his shoulders and pulling a face.

No, definitely not a statesman, more a clown playing to the pro-EU media audience.

As Boris Johnson travels Europe, meeting leaders and gauging the willingness for a deal, just like David Cameron and Theresa May before him, he's coming up against the cult of EU. There cannot be any negotiation, there will be no compromise. Because you are better off in the cult than outside it. Dire things will happen should you ever leave the cult.

You will not survive, there will be turmoil, the cult cannot survive without you think of the people you leave behind: they will starve without you; and possibly finally: if you leave we'll kill you new pet dog... who knows the number of threats both direct and inferred and the number of sob stories that Boris has had to hear on his travels.

As we get closer to the 31st of October the hysteria will only get worse. The EU needs our contributions to the cult. We need to push through and ignore it. Let them wail... but let us be wary also.

If I were Boris, I would have our Army on standby and in a state of readiness, our Navy should be patrolling the channel and the North Sea. For what you may ask? Well, for anything.

At the very least the Army can be used to sort out any traffic issues on this side of the channel. Our Engineer corps can quite easily flatten a piece of land and tarmac it ready for trucks to park on, they can also set up temporary food supplies to the truckers waiting there. The Army are good in a crisis.

The Navy can shepherd those French, Spanish and Dutch fishermen that don't believe in the Brexit fairy and stroll into our waters back to their side of the ditch.

At the very worst, the Army can take on any European paratroopers falling out of European transport aircraft. The Navy can provide an anti-airctraft blockade. After all, don't underestimate the power of a cult to go to extremes to keep you in it.....

Oh and Boris, if Merkel comes to visit, keep the dog indoors in case her limo runs over it. "Accidents" can happen...Ja?

No Deal....

So, a question I have is: how does Boris get out of the corner Parliament have painted him into.

Now that he's being forced to ask the EU for an extension and additionally forced by Parliament to accept any extension to article 50 - no matter how long, just how does Boris exit the EU on October the 31st?

Does he do all they command, get an extension and then trigger an immediate election, so he can revoke any extension by Christmas?

Does he sit on his hands, refuse to ask for an extension and face prosecution?

Does he go to Brussels, mumble to himself he'd rather like an extension but no-one hears him and he comes back with a clear conscience?

Does he ask for the extension, then fail to complete the necessary paperwork in time thus automatically exiting on the 31st?

Does he ask for the extension but  say there will be no more payments to the EU after the 31st?  Under those circumstances do the EU call his bluff and agree an extension or refuse?

It's quite obvious Boris' government think October 31st is the deadline. There's a huge, expensive ad campaign on TV and radio going on at the moment. The 31st of October is the end, it's the finishing line... be prepared.

Like for the businesses that are involved with trading with the EU, they need to take heed. For the vast majority of businesses it will be carry on as usual.

I'll have to have a look at the repeal of the European Communities Act, to see when that kicks in. If that's on the 31st, then Boris doesn't have any legitimacy in the EU after that date anyway, as EU law is not valid in the UK and we have no obligations to the EU either. EU law fails to be prime and we revert back to good ol' UK law.

If that kicks in on the 31st, we don't pay any money to the EU, so the EU are bound not to extend beyond the 31st and all our MEPs get kicked out of the EU Parliament.

I suspect if Boris goes to the EU, asks for an extension and doesn't give anything back in return, the EU will tell him to sod off. But he's fulfilled the remit of the Bill Parliament have forced upon him. The Bill only compels him to ask for an extension and then accept any extension the EU propose. It doesn't compel him to give anything in return. If Boris and the EU fail to agree anything by the deadline, then exit is triggered.

Not the best way to exit, to negotiate past the deadline and  default out, but I think that's what Boris is relying on.

Who has the authority to go above the minister in charge?

Revelation Time: What I think Theresa May Thinks Brexit actually means.

I've said here and elsewhere a lot of words about the Chequers proposal and how it doesn't deliver Brexit. But in a moment of revelation I think I know what Theresa May is thinking in her dealings with the EU over Brexit.

And I've come to the conclusion it isn't Brexit.

She's using the referendum vote as a bargaining chip to reform the EU itself and therefore allow us to stay within the EU. There is no other explaination as to how she thinks the Chequers proposal is an exit from the EU in any way, shape or from.

It can only be the explaination, because last Sunday she said the Chequers deal was one of two options. Chequers or staying in the EU. There was no fully out option in her mind.

I think she has deluded herself into thinking she is Margaret Thatcher Mk2, that she can go to the EU and demand concessions and refom the EU from within, to make it more acceptable to UK pallettes. By leveraging the threat to leave and remove our budget contribution or partially leave and reduce the money flow she thinks the EU will roll over and play ball. But the EU ain't like that. They will bend for a while, but then snap back later once they have an agreement.

She thinks she can use the referendum to go one better than David Cameron and force the whole EU to capitulate and change fundamental policy. She thinks she can get concessions on immigration, payments, and all the other things that previous PMs have failed to extract from the EU.

That I think is her plan in a nutshell: gain concessions from the EU and stay in a reformed EU, or just stay in without concessions.

She's renegotiating the terms of being inside the EU, rather than negotiating our exit.

Brexit it ain't. Not by a long chalk.

Democracy

It will be interesting to see in the next few days how the EU react to the speeches made this week by Jeremy Corbyn and Theresa May.

Corbyn wants us to be members of "a" customs union, with no concessions. i.e. tied to EU legislation, ruled by the ECJ, unable to control immigration.

May wants to have a fairer system, but in essence we pay money to the EU in exchange for tariff-free access to certain service sectors and geographical areas. In essence free movement of money across borders for her chums in the City of London and we cough up to get the EU to turn a blind eye to the lack of border between Northern and Southern Ireland.

Both speeches were aimed at the audience at home, after all both are elected politicians and I'm sure they would like to be re-elected at some point, so they have to sound good at home.

However, the EU commission members are unencumbered by such petty things as an electorate. They do not have to answer to the thousands of European car workers that could lose jobs if we buy fewer European cars. They can and would quite easily allow the UK to crash out of the UK with no substantial trade deal in place. It's just tough for those European workers and after all, what are they going to do about it? It's not as if those workers can sack the commission members is it?

Nope, the commission will stick two fingers up to the European electorate and would quite happily allow them to lose their jobs. As an example just look at the youth unemployment in the Southern EU states. Do the commission care about that? Nope, not their problem, even if it is their rules and restrictions that have caused it.

Therin lies the problem with the EU: it is undemocratic at best and anti-democratic at worst. The response from Brussels I am convinced will prove that very fact.

Labour Party's Betrayal of Northern Labour Voters.

In the Brexit referendum, scores of Labour-voting people in Labour's Northern Heartlands voted to leave the EU.

Northumberland, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Lancashire.... all voted to leave the EU. All are counties where Labour do well. Former industrial and mining areas.

All betrayed yesterday by Jeremy Corbyn and his policy to stay in the customs union. Pandering to his London-centric Remain Champagne Socialist Labour clique.

Labour will say that even though their heartlands voted leave, it wasn't the Labour voters (the majority) that did that, it was the nasty Tories (the minority) that somehow conjoured a referendum winning vote. So they're actually giving Labour voters what they want. They can believe that Bullshit all they want to excuse their trachery, but it just doesn't wash. Gordon Brown got it wrong when he called Gillian Duffy a bigot for her comments on immigrants. Jeremy Corbyn has just done exactly the same.

This should be as momentous for Labour voters as Maggie Thatcher crushing the miner's strike: this is Labour sticking two fingers up to the working class. Again. And this time you can't say it's Teflon Tony Blair the Tory in disguise, or Gordon Brown trying to be Tony Mk2. This is jeremy Corbyn, self-styled Trotskyite, man of the oppressed workers of the UK. This is inexcusable.

Of course the Chelsea Socialists say it's all about protecting worker's rights. It's nothing of the sort. It's protecting corporate interests and the influx of cheap unskilled Polish and Romanian workers. It's about keeping wages suppressed. With all that cheap labour on tap, wages for the rest of us stay low and working conditions poor. It's keeping profits flowing to low-tax countries with no penalties and avoiding paying tax in the UK.

After all, if we start to mention improvement of wages or working conditions, then all the business can just let us go and employ a foreign worker on high agency rates but getting paid minimum wage.  Huge margins for the corporate fat-cats. That's who your Labour party is actually working for.

If Labour truly wanted to improve the wages and working conditions of the working class of the UK, then the cheap labour tap would be turned off.  Out of the customs union and out of free movement.

Staying in "a", "the" or even "New" or any fucking flavour of  customs union automatically means free movement of people  i.e. no control over immigration. The EU provides no alternative on this. you cannot have one without the other. The tap cannot be turned off.

Staying in a customs union also means adherence to EU-negotiated trade deals. The UK would not be free to negfotiate on our own. Non-negotiable according to EU negotiators.

Membership of "a" customs union for anything longer than an interim period is a betrayal of those votes how voted to leave the EU. Permanent membership of a customs union goes against the will of the majority of people who voted to leave the EU and it's control.

Unless.... what Labour are saying they are aligning with Boris Johnson and his "have our cake and eat it" policy, where we choose to be part of a customs union, but are free to negotiate our own trade deals, part of a customs union and free of the ECJ, part of a customs union and not allowing free movement of people. ALL OF WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN REJECTED BY EU NEGOTIATORS.

You cannot have membership of "a" or "the" or any customs union without the baggage that comes along with it like subservience of UK laws to the Court of European Justice.

You cannot have membership of "a" or "the" or any customs union and stop the influx of cheap unskilled Eastern European labour.

You cannot have membership of "a" or "the" or any customs union and stop huge corporations from banking profits and declaring corporation tax in other countries. Free movement of people and goods also means free movement of money as well.

You cannot have membership of "a" or "the" or any customs union and negotiate trade with other countries at the same time. You are tied to deals done by the EU.

You cannot have membership of "a" or "the" or any customs union without betraying the huge swath of Northern Voters that voted to leave.

The sad thing is that now UKIP have crashed out of UK politics in any meaningful way, there is no alternative party for the Northern working class Labour voter to vote for. That's why Labour have done this now. They know the working class have no alternative to vote for. Bastards.

If ever there was a time for a proper democratic people's party, for the working class and  free from the Westminster bubble and it's corrupt corporate influence, that time is now.

Can we just grow up and accept that Brexit means leaving the EU, the Customs Union, the Single Market, the primacy of UK courts, closure of our borders, the ability to trade freely with other countries and start to talk on those terms. The longer Politicians of all flavours push the customs union model, the bigger the crash at the end of it when the EU refuse our requests.

Spinning otherwise (because that's all it is, spin) is dangerous and devisive. Right now businesses should be planning all future trade with EU countries on a "fully out" model. To do otherwise would court disaster for the company. That's what good governance is all about and should be working towards.

The game politicians are playing is a dangerous one and costly for the UK. That our own politicians are working against us should also prove the need for an alternative party that puts the UK people first. After all there is a historical precedent: every now and then Parliament has needed a nudge from the people to show 'em who's boss.

Death Knell for EU sounded.

Today's papers are full of the news that German industry has said it will put the single market before any deal with the UK regarding Brexit.

So what they are saying is they will put a political project before the livelihoods of their workers. They will jeopardise jobs for the sake of a political project.

Hopefully workers in France and Germany will wake up and realise that they are not as immune from the idiocy of the EU and that it does not work in their interest. Just as in Greece, Italy and Spain that the political project is primary: jobs, lives and the future of millions will be sacrificed all for the political project that is the European Union.

That my friends is why EU commissioners are not elected, why they create laws where they are immune from prosecution. They see themselves as Gods, above everyone and willing to sacrifice the lives of millions.They are not politicians in the true sense of the word. Their life is politics, but only for the furtherance of the EU. They do not work in the interests of their citizens which is why they are not elected. Otherwise they would be booted out in short order. To continue the juggernaut that is the EU, they have to be above that: unelected, untouchable, uncaring and (currently) unstoppable.

The warning signs were there long ago, but recently have been very much to the fore. Forcing countries to accept mass immigration, the financial shackles put on the Southern European countries and the imposition of technocrats... bringing Europe to the brink of war with Russia over the Ukraine, and now willing to risk the jobs of thousands of German and French car workers. Of course not those at the top, because if the EU imposes barriers to trading easily with the UK, then all we do is buy the same goods produced outside the EU. Cars are made all over the world. If we can get the same cars from plants manufactured in North or South America cheaper than EU-made cars, then that's what we will do. The car companies will still be paid, it's just the workers in the shrinking plants across the EU that will suffer.

And when the people in the North of Europe become to understand they are just as at risk as those in the South, that they are pawns to be sacrificed for the greater good, they will reject the EU just as we have.
