Bonfire of The Independent Thinkers.

 No matter what criticisms you have of Boris Johnson or Nicola Sturgeon, the thing they has was charisma. They also bucked the trend of bland, unthinking robotic politicians.

But, that bravura caught up with them eventually.

There was a point I defended Boris as originally the "PartyGate" scandal was essentially a bunch of workers having a drink at work. They were at work and it doesn't matter what you do if you're an essential worker whether you're there working, or having a sherry to toast a colleague as they leave for pastures new. 

The Covid rules allowed essential workers to be at work. Anything else is semantics and splitting hairs out of jealousy.  It appears that the dispute is what constitutes an essential worker, or a person that was allowed to be on the premises under the Covid rules. 

I was an essential worker and we had Pizza delivered the bosses ordered as a thank you for working through the pandemic. It wasn't much of a party, but it was a nice gesture as we stopped work for a bit and collectively took a break. We were sensible and distanced as much as we could., but still if you want to get extremely nit-picky there were occasions where it just wasn't possible. Carrying a two-person heavy load, for instance. 

In the end we chose to work as much as we could within the rules within reason and common sense. That's all you can do, otherwise you might as well say even essential workers should have gone home. Because at the end of the day if you make enough disparate o rules or make the rules especially vague, then you 're going to fall foul of one eventually.

It's an old Soviet tactic: keep watching someone for long enough and with enough rules around they'll eventually break a rule and you'll be able to prosecute.

In Boris' case I think this is what has happened. The knives have been out from the start and this is the thing they pinned on him. It's a bit like Al Capone: the only thing they eventually pinned on him was tax evasion, which was just enough to put him in jail, despite the heinous acts he masterminded over the years.

Sturgeon is a completely different case. There looks to be definite evidence of fraudulent activity. Enough to warrant charges and arrests. Whether she was directly involved is not yet proven, but it's not looking good for at least her husband and others in the SNP financial apparatus.

In both cases however, I get the feeling there was a concerted effort to remove them and replace them with other, less headstrong replacements. In the UK we eventually got Rishi because the establishment didn't like the people's choice of Liz Truss. Don't forget that Rishi didn't even win the confidence of his own party's members, let alone win a general election.

In Sturgeon's case I think she was led down a path that she followed which led to her demise. 

In both cases we got inferior replacements. Rishi the Billionaire accountant and that bloke in Scotland whose name I can't remember. 

Bland placeholders, no agenda, no plan. 

And that's what the globalists want: people they can influence and get results. Rishi will not rock the boat like Liz Truss and Boris did. They will not stir up trouble and keep pressing the independence button like Nicola Sturgeon did. The globalists right now want open borders, not fragmentation. They want seamless trading, not customs barriers. Just look how quickly the original Northern Ireland agreement was modified, when both sides realised they'd reduced profits for the globalists.

Just remember we used to be their employers, their masters. That appears to be no longer the case. I've been banging on for over a decade that modern governments have been corrupted and co-opted to serve the global corporations. They no longer serve the best interest of the people, the voters that vote them into power. 

Faith.

 The majority of voters lost faith with the Labour party an long time ago. No longer do they reflect the people that they hope would vote for them.

But it's clear that voters are quickly losing faith with the Tories as well. The supposedly Conservative and Unionist party is fast becoming nothing of the sort.

It seems that after the Corporate Cronyism of the Blair Government, we have the Corporate Cronyism of the Coalition and then the Corporate Cronyism of the Cameron Government. 

It seems that the May and now Johnson Governments are more of the same. The Pandora papers have opened up the web of mega-rich donors supporting both sides of the political isle. 

The British public seem to be losing faith with Boris Johnson. In conversations now, his stature is much diminished. Whereas he was seen as some Churchillian Bulldog leader,  he's now seen as a lapdog. Following the mostly conflicting advice from his panel of medical "experts", he has lumbered from one PR disaster to another, actively contradicting himself on consecutive days. Over the past 18 months he's not looked like much of a leader.

As a person he's popular. He did amazing stuff while in charge in London. But it seems that now in charge of Government, it's a different Boris we are seeing. He's physically aged in the last few months too.  It just makes you wonder what issues he's trying to wrestle with.

Is he being strong-armed by his billionaire backers to not increase taxes on the mega-rich to claw back the expense of the pandemic?

Is he trying to reconcile the inability to claw back the borrowing without significantly raising taxes for the poor? Is he having discussions with his rich mates who don't want to contribute? Are the mega-corporations refusing to co-operate?

All this build back better bollocks looks pretty shit to me. It looks like the near future is going to consist of sky-high inflation and hardship for those of us that are on PAYE and cannot escape taxation.

These are troubling times, because if the government doesn't get a handle on the situation (and there is next to nothing being announced) then the door is opened to the more extremist parties to gain a foothold, from both the right and left of the spectrum.

COVID-19: Note To Boris - LOCKDOWNS. DON'T. WORK.

 It looks like Boris is going to announce a new lockdown tonight. 

Guess what Boris? It will be as effective as the last lockdown (Tier4) and the Lockdown before that (the November "Save Christmas" lockdown) and the lockdown before those two lockdowns (The "Save the NHS" three month lockdown).

None of which have stopped the spread of the virus.

Now Boris, if you are going to have a fourth lockdown, please can we have a "proper" lockdown? 

By that I mean closing the borders, closing the airports and making people entering the country to isolate in hotels for two weeks at their expense, like they do in New Zealand and Australia.

Without proper control of people entering into the country, how the hell can we control the virus? 

Lets have a proper closure of shops, or at the very least control of the numbers entering shops, like the original lockdown.

And I hope the government give up with this stupid notion of keeping schools open as well. Those little snot-breathing bacteria-farms called children will spread the virus as surely as eggs are eggs. And if not them then their parents meeting up at the school gates are a vector for infection spread.

Otherwise, without proper lockdown, what's the point? It will be a failure, just like the ones before.

Or alternatively, now we know that lockdowns (at least the UK version) don't work, lets not fucking bother and let all the people that have a 99.999999% chance of surviving infection just go about their daily business.

Let's stop fucking the country up for no apparent gain. Because Boris, you are quickly losing the support of the country. We can't keep going into lockdown after lockdown and still be where we were before.

You will lose the support of the people, the government will lose the support of the people. The Police and the NHS will lose support also.

I can quickly see the day when we lose all respect for authority in this country and the ensuing chaos will not be pretty. The Police have already lost the respect of the working class, it's quickly losing the support of the middle class too. When the majority of the population have no respect for the law, or the rules the government put forward (illegally, without consent of Parliament) then you have a BIG problem.

The "Empty-Chairing" of Boris by Luxembourg.

The fiasco of Boris refusing to speak outside on a podium yards away from a baying mob of remainiac protesters and the Luxembourg PM refusing to hold the press conference indoors in an effort to embarrass Boris shows why we should be leaving the EU.

The problem with Xavier Bettel is he is no statesman. A true stateman and leader of a country would have honour and comply with his guest's request to hold the press conference in an alternative location.

Instead Bettel deliberately sought to humiliate Boris. By either making him hold the conference outside against the baying mob, or by empty-chairing him and effectively taking the piss while Boris wasn't there.

But that's the trouble with the EU: while the EU make all the rules and laws of government and a certain political class reign, political pygmies like Bettel can rise to the top.

Macron is of the same mould, in fact the only European premiers who are not of the same Euro-elite class are Germany's Merkel and Hungary's Orban.

The Euro-elite are easily identifiable: self assured, totally committed to the European Project to cult-level brainwash. They cannot fathom why anyone would not want to be under the EU commission's unelected beaurocrats. It's great for the leaders of these smaller countries, The EU bungs money to the country and makes all the rules, so there is very little for the leader of Luxembourg for instance to do other than accept the rules of the EU, keep taking the cash and look like a leader. If the boy does good, he may make it to the gravy-train of the EU commission and be rolling in it for life, just like old Rumpy-Pumpy. Bettel is a puppet leader, much like the puppet leaders of countries tied to bigger regimes.

The Euro-elite are so cultish they view anyone who considers leaving the EU idiots, unable to see "the bigger picture".  Hence the picture of Bettel gesturing to the empty podium by his side while shrugging his shoulders and pulling a face.

No, definitely not a statesman, more a clown playing to the pro-EU media audience.

As Boris Johnson travels Europe, meeting leaders and gauging the willingness for a deal, just like David Cameron and Theresa May before him, he's coming up against the cult of EU. There cannot be any negotiation, there will be no compromise. Because you are better off in the cult than outside it. Dire things will happen should you ever leave the cult.

You will not survive, there will be turmoil, the cult cannot survive without you think of the people you leave behind: they will starve without you; and possibly finally: if you leave we'll kill you new pet dog... who knows the number of threats both direct and inferred and the number of sob stories that Boris has had to hear on his travels.

As we get closer to the 31st of October the hysteria will only get worse. The EU needs our contributions to the cult. We need to push through and ignore it. Let them wail... but let us be wary also.

If I were Boris, I would have our Army on standby and in a state of readiness, our Navy should be patrolling the channel and the North Sea. For what you may ask? Well, for anything.

At the very least the Army can be used to sort out any traffic issues on this side of the channel. Our Engineer corps can quite easily flatten a piece of land and tarmac it ready for trucks to park on, they can also set up temporary food supplies to the truckers waiting there. The Army are good in a crisis.

The Navy can shepherd those French, Spanish and Dutch fishermen that don't believe in the Brexit fairy and stroll into our waters back to their side of the ditch.

At the very worst, the Army can take on any European paratroopers falling out of European transport aircraft. The Navy can provide an anti-airctraft blockade. After all, don't underestimate the power of a cult to go to extremes to keep you in it.....

Oh and Boris, if Merkel comes to visit, keep the dog indoors in case her limo runs over it. "Accidents" can happen...Ja?

meaning:

the action of discontinuing a session of a parliament or other legislative assembly without dissolving it.

The media has worked itself into a frenzy over the prorogation of Parliament. The fact is that prorogation is an entirely legitimate mechanism of Parliament.

The other salient fact is that Parliament hasn't had a Queen's speech (and with it any new legislation) for THEE YEARS.

For the past two years critics have been saying that Parliament has been paralysed by Brexit and they are right. No new legislative proposals have come out of government for three years. Current legislation harks back to a time when the Maybot scraped through the election. That's before article 50 was enacted, before any deals had been done, before chequers, before the Olly Robbins stitch-up, before the withdrawal agreement, before the backstop.

All we have had in the intervening time, is Parliament and private individuals like Gina Miller attempting to stop Brexit and thwart the role of the government enacting the very thing the people had told them to enact. .i.e. leaving the EU.

It's been Brexit, Brexit, Brexit. It's time to settle the matter and move on.

The media is calling it a government coup.
How can it be, when all the government are doing is suspending Parliament until the Queen's speech. There are no tanks on the lawns of Westminster, there are no soldiers barring MPs entry to the Houses of parliament. They will have plenty of time to debate whatever new agreement comes out of talks between Boris Johnson's government and the EU.

What they won't have time for is unnecessary shenanigans like votes of confidence and other delaying tactics put in place by MPs.
 The media are calling it undemocratic. How can it be undemocratic to move ahead and leave the EU when commanded by the people? The referendum was the biggest democratic exercise in UK history. The biggest ever vote. The people spoke. How can it be undemocratic to follow their instructions?

I suggest that the Johnson government needs to let dissenting anti-Brexit MPs in leave-voting constituencies understand in no uncertain terms that they will not get the PMs full support and they will be left to fight against the Brexit party on their own.

Where MPs have voted in accordance their leave-voting constituency, I believe that the Brexit party should leave well alone.

The rump of remain constituencies should feel the full force of a Brexit party PR campaign, blasting out the message that despite them voting to remain in the EU, the majority voted to leave. The majority decision, like all previous majority decisions in political history, should be carried by the government of the day and those that voted leave have no mandate to thwart the view of the majority.

The result of the referendum was clear, with no ambiguity: the people of the UK wish to leave the EU. The government has leeway in HOW they leave the EU, but leave it they must. And leave it in a way that satisfies the electorate, otherwise they will not be in government after the next election. Boris Johnson understands this and is trying his best to move forward with the will of the people.

Its something that Theresa May, the House of Lords, Gina Miller and all the anti-Brexit MPs in the commons fail to understand.
