So, Starmer has negotiated a method to return illegal immigrants back to France?
Er, No, he hasn't.
The one-in-one-out policy, despite the positive spin in the headlines, and the media is not a repatriation scheme.
It refers to Britain sending back immigrants that have used people smugglers and instead accepting immigrants selected by France in their place one-for-one that have not been people-smuggled.
Starmer's logic being it will stop the people smuggling gangs by removing the business of the boats.
But we are still accepting hundreds of immigrants per day! We're just swapping the ones smuggled in boats for ones chosen by France.
Also there's now an incentive to France to pull back from the beaches and let the people smugglers have free reign, because the more illegals arrive in Britain on boats, the more immigrants France will be able to swap.
And will France be prioritising their sweet and safe immigrants, or will they be prioritising their undesirables? I can guess what the answer to that will be.
The other ludicrous policy is that the UK can return 50 immigrants a day back to France, when more than that arrive in each boat. The boats carry 80 immigrants at a time.
