Untenable State of Immigration.

Levels of illegal immigration are at an all-time high. The operations in the channel and the thousands of hotel rooms being block-booked to house the now hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants is becoming an untenable state of affairs.

The government seem unable to come up with a plan to stem the flow. At some point it has to stop as we are looking at the population of a large town arriving every year.

We are not building a new town's work of facilities every year. We simply don't have the money.

Sorry to say, but the problem of immigration has now become untenable on several fronts. Financial, political, societal.

I do feel that we are close to a tipping point. Either the Government ship the immigrants off to Rwanda, fighting lawyers all the way for each and every person picked to be shipped off, or as I suspect will happen, the government will cave in and start to issue amnesties and process the immigrants to live here.

Then the traffickers will have won and there will be no stopping the flow into the country.

Right now, the government needs to make a choice. Do they grow some balls and do what is necessary to stop the flow, including removing the country from the ECHR, or do they cave in and allow the whole world unrestricted access to the UK?

Because if they issue amnesties, that's what will happen.

Spies Like Us.

I posted last week about the possible KGB sleepers that have been found in the USA. Rather convenient timing given that the USA/Russia relationship is at an all-time low.

The weird thing is the Sunspot Solar Observatory FBI raid from 2018 is getting prominent coverage again for some reason.

The cover story for that raid and the subsequent arrest of the janitor was child pornography, but that doesn't usually entail swarms of FBI agents, cars helicopters etc.

I think the janitor was actually involved in espionage as the observatory is within radio range of the white Sands missile range. It's also close to Holloman AFB where they fly drones from. From the old FQ-4 target drones (converted from F-4 Phantom Jets) to the latest MQ-9 Reaper.

Ripe for signals intelligence gathering. Either to intercept the signals they use to control the target drones, or to intercept other less obvious signals intelligence.

The 96th Test Group is located at Holloman, which test amongst other things aircraft protection systems. I assume that includes radar jammers as well as other things like IR spoofers. But the radio signals from a radar jammer could be intercepted at Sunspot Observatory.

My theory (call it conspiracy if you will) is that the janitor was a spy. The Chinese put great stock in HUMINT (human intelligence) and the West is stupid enough to let Chinese nationals into the country unobserved to carry out other forms of intelligence gathering like SIGINT (Signals Intelligence).

The cover story is that the janitor was involved in Child Pornography and there is a further story about laptops in various rooms being left open with CP on the screen. Now strike me sceptical, but anyone involved in CP would know it's illegal and cover their tracks.

However, a clever sting by the FBI could insert the CP onto said laptops for some hapless solar scientist to find which would then incriminate the janitor and initiate the FBI raid. Which seemed a bit heavy-handed for someone accessing child porn on a computer.

But not heavy-handed for someone involved in espionage who had received classified signals from the nearby White Sands missile range of the Holloman AFB drone program. Who then put the data onto a memory card and put it in the post (hence why the post office at the observatory was searched).

I'm sure there will be more sleepers, spies and agents revealed as the cold war hots up and the posturing increases.

Sleepers

No, not a reference Railways, but the ancient TV series where spies try and avoid being reactivated.

Real, spy-type sleepers. Yes, they are still here in the West, despite Glasnost and all of that theatre from the Nineties. Much has been made of Chinese espionage more recently, but the KGB are very good at hedging their bets, belt and braces and not letting go of the old ways.

The KGB are very much active in the field of human intelligence.

This story shows that sleepers are very much out there: Married couple charged for using identities of dead children for decades (msn.com)

The innocuous and strange tale would only be one of a couple using assumed identities... until photos were found of them in KGB uniforms. Idiots.

Now the uniforms look staged as they were taken in the same place. The backgrounds are the same. It's almost like the couple were approached, recruited and then the photos were used as blackmail: "do what we tell you to do, otherwise we'll release the pictures and you'll be tried as spies".

Very KGB.

Anyhow, they've been caught and the media seem at pains to avoid the KGB link. But I have a theory that this couple have been watched for a while now and that they have been exposed to show Russia that the USA hasn't dropped it's guard. Just in case they want to start a fight, the US are still vigilant and it won't go how the Russians think it will.

Sad for the couple that they've been found out either way. Living your life as a lie isn't the most relaxing occupation.

I do hope this war between Russia and Ukraine stops soon. I'm missing Russian Standard Vodka. And if anyone tells you different Vodkas all taste the same, they're a heathen.

On the subject of China, I hear that a new Parliamentary security leak has been detected. Oh joy. I just wonder what the Chinese get out of Parliamentary information. I'm sure they get all the inside gossip and in some instances an insight into how the UK would react in certain circumstances. But really the rabid data-gathering of the Chinese must pick up lots of dross with very few true interesting nuggets of information.

But hey, it must be paying off. They've got a space program, a decent fighter aircraft and a capable aircraft carrier out of it. But I pity the poor saps who have to sift through the dross.
