Another Virus-Cancer link

From the BBC website: "Scientists have produced compelling evidence that a virus known to cause cancer in animals is linked to prostate cancer in humans."

Before the HPV-cervical cancer link was found, I often remarked that the cause of cancers would probably turn out to be a particularly simple mechanism. I may be proved right.

These cancer-triggering viruses could have been in the environment for centuries or even longer and its only now, as population density increases, that the viruses are finding enough hosts to make a marked impact on mortality rates.

Cold comfort for cancer sufferers to know that you're part of natural selection at work though.
