U.S. Politics: Is the Civil Cold War beginning to Heat Up?

 Reports of 4 protesters shot dead in DC, is the civil cold war starting to heat up?#

Republicans are normally the people that would support the Police and the authorities in general. They are the party of Law and Order after all. 

BUT.... If the authorities continue to follow unconstitutional edicts from politicians, if they start to suppress Conservative protests, those Police, those authorities will soon lose the support of the Republicans. At that point the authorities in general, become fair game, because in the eyes of Conservatives, they are not abiding by the letter nor the principle of the US constitution. 

Republicans are more likely to be armed, if the Authorities lose the support of the Republicans, then I can't see a good outcome.

I can see Republicans returning fire. From then on, the future is uncertain, apart from at that point the cold war becomes a hot one.
