Cost of Living: Inflation Isn't the True Metric.

There's been much over the past few days that inflation is now back down to 2% and how that is good news election-wise. No it fucking isn't, if you have half a brain cell.

Well fuckers in the media, inflation isn't the only metric you wankers.

In the past 18-24 months prices have risen by by 20-30%, so how is that 2% inflation metric in any way relevant?

What that means is prices on a select small sample of items has gone up 2% in the past 12 months. But and its a fucking massive but... last years prices were already 20%-ish higher than the previous years prices.

So to say that inflation is "only" 2% is admitting the actual 2-year inflation rate is 22%.

One thing the next Government needs to get in place pronto is decent economists who aren't fixated on inflation, who actually have a grip on reality.

Also, holding inflation at 2% isn't good is it stokes up inflationary pressure and prices suddenly jump 10-20-30% in 12 month's time. Better to have a gradual rise and stop pissing about pumping money into the economy. Instead of holding it down at an arbitrary 2%, why not have a 3% rise? What's the difference exactly?

Just 1% inflationary terms is minimal, it reduces the pressure for a  "big-bang" rise in a decade.

After all, us workers are putting up with shit 1% pay rises, or have been over decades, so if we're not keeping up with inflation, we're not keeping up with inflation. 2,3 or whatever percent, we're still being fucked by everyone in big business and government.
